FAQ

What to expect on your first visit
On arrival a member of our reception team will ask you to fill in a Patient Registration Form, please ask if you need help filling this out.
You will then go through to one of our treatment rooms where the practitioner will take a case history. Please let the practitioner know of any injuries, medication or hospital treatment you may be receiving or if you have a pace-maker fitted.
The information you give and a physical examination (where needed) will help the practitioner to arrive at a correct diagnosis.
Will l need to remove any clothing?
On your first visit the osteopath will need to look at your spine to help make a diagnosis and you will be asked to remove your shirt or blouse.
It is often not necessary for patients to remove their clothing during Osteopathic treatment but we do ask if you can wear light and loose clothing instead.
For massage therapy the area being treated will need to have no clothing on but we do insure your modesty at all times and cover you with towels and blankets.
Do you give a treament plan?
At the end of your first consultation your practitioner will advise on any further treatment needed. We do not use a one size fits all approach and take into account the patients needs and lifestyle. Your practitioner will also be able to recommend a variety of other treatments to you if they consider this to be helpful.
Are you recognised by major health insurers?
Yes we are, although it is the patients responsibilty to confirm this with their health insurer.
Do you offer emergency appoitments and home visits?
We offer a small number of appointments on the day and it is best to phone early if you would like one.
If you are in alot of pain one of our practitioners will do their best to see you the same day, if neccesary out of hours.
For patients who are house bound due to pain or a disability we offer a home visiting service at an additional charge.
I'm not sure which therapy will suit me best
Please feel free to call the clinic on 01293 784200 to discuss your requirements and if needed a practitioner will return your call.
If l need to cancel or change my appointment how much notice should l give?
We ask for 24 hours notice as this gives us the opportunity to offer the appointment to somebody else.
If we receive a late cancellation or change and are unable to fill the appointment we may make a cancellation charge.
At The Carlton Clinic your welfare is our 'number one' priority. All the information you provide will be handled in the strictest confidence.
